Install the Luminon CLI globally and then start the local renderer so you can use the browser UI.

npm install -g @luminondev/mcp-dashboard
luminon start

By default, Luminon uses `~/Documents/luminon` as its working directory on macOS and Linux, although the exact path can vary by operating system. If you need to move that directory, set the `MCP_DATA_DIR` environment variable before starting Luminon.

MCP_DATA_DIR=~/my-luminon-directory luminon start

The `luminon start` command opens the local renderer. The local stdio MCP does not need to be started with `luminon start`; your AI client usually launches it when you configure `luminon mcp`.

If you want to access the MCP remotely or share it with a team, use `luminon start remote`. That mode exposes the MCP over HTTP for external clients or machines on the same network.
